To prevent the spread of plant closures, the industry is calling for urgent measures to make investment in circular plastics production more attractive, to cut red tape and to create a level playing field with international competitors. Political decision-makers must quickly send a clear message to investors and markets that they remain committed to plastics production in Europe and its transition. Although Belgium prides itself on being one of Europe’s top recyclers, it pales into insignificance when it comes to promoting a circular plastics economy. The time has come to act.
