Hydrogen: Growth That Holds Firm

SEP 2025

According to the latest IEA analysis, global hydrogen demand continues to rise, and although the pipeline of low-emission projects has shrunk, production of low-emission hydrogen is still expected to grow strongly by 2030. The cost gap with fossil-based hydrogen is narrowing, China leads the deployment of electrolysers, and new markets such as maritime transport and Southeast Asia are emerging. In Belgium, the key event will be the Belgian Hydrogen Council conference on 6 November 2025, where the IEA study will undoubtedly be one of the central topics: global trends, industrial perspectives and implications for Belgian stakeholders — a pivotal moment to understand where the next phase of the hydrogen transition is headed.
