CCS: Belgium Steps Up
NOV 2025
On 6 November, Wallonia, Flanders and 17 major companies signed a joint declaration to accelerate CO₂ capture, transport and storage. Presented at the Holcim cement plant in Mons, this alliance aims to build a complete and credible CCS value chain capable of avoiding at least 7.5 million tonnes of CO₂. The governments promise a stable framework, coordinated infrastructure and support for investments, while industry commits to developing concrete projects using the best available technologies. A decisive step toward positioning Belgium among Europe’s leading players in carbon capture.
