COM: AN AVALANCHE OF COM

FEB 2025

February was marked by a dense European activity, with a series of initiatives from the Commission. Its President had announced that she would propose in the first 100 days of her term of office in favor of industry.

On February 26, the Commission presented its first “omnibus” package bringing together proposals for several related areas of legislation, designed to radically simplify the areas of sustainable finance disclosure, due diligence, European Union taxonomy, border carbon adjustment mechanism and European investment programs.

On the same day, the Commission presented the Clean Industry Pact and the Action Plan for affordable energy.

All these proposals still have to be discussed by the European Council and Parliament.

In Belgium, Flanders and Wallonia are also concerned with the industry competitiveness with a particular focus on energy prices.

In Wallonia, a platform for dialogue will be set up with the industrial sector as well as a task force for risks related to international politics. Flanders is working on reducing administrative burdens and identifying priority actions in its action plan for industry.
